The Somali Government Issues Order Regarding Men Accused of Assaulting a Girl

The Ministry of Family and Human Rights Development of Somalia has issued a press release regarding the arrest of men suspected of assaulting a girl.

On June 19, at a venue welcoming a girl famous on social media who arrived in Mogadishu, one of the attendees was 'assaulted and harassed by a group of youths.'

A video recorded of the incident has taken over social media in recent days.

"Those who violated the honor of the Somali girl must be swiftly brought to justice."

The ministry condemned the act, describing it as a violation of the dignity and honor of a Somali girl.

"This barbaric act clearly contradicts our Islamic faith, the good culture of the Somali people, freedom, dignity, and the rights of citizens, and it is our collective duty to denounce this heinous act while we remove those who committed such a serious violation from our society," said the Minister of the Ministry of Family and Human Rights Development XFS Amb Khadiija Maxamed Al-Makhzoumi.

The ministry has instructed security agencies to swiftly apprehend the men involved in the act.

It also urged parents, families, and anyone who knows the suspects to cooperate with security agencies and avoid providing shelter to them.

On the other hand, there were protests yesterday afternoon in Mogadishu against this incident.

Additionally, a press release from the office of the Attorney General stated that they are conducting an investigation into crimes against the ethics and good conduct of the Somali community.
