The Somali Future Council Appoints Technical Committee

Jun 15 (Jowhar) - The council known as the Somali Future Council has appointed a technical committee tasked with a plan aimed at initiating formal dialogue between the Federal Government of Somalia and the political opposition.

The committee members include representatives from the leadership of Puntland and Jubbaland and opposition politicians from southern Somalia.

Among the committee members are Maxamed Dhabancad, Cabdirashiid Jire, Cabdirahman Cabdishakur Warsame, Cabdullaahi Maxamed Cali (Sanbaloolshe), and Cabdiraxmaan Ceynte.

Reports indicate that this committee will strive to unify the various international efforts aimed at facilitating direct dialogue between the federal government leaders and the opposition.

The Turkish government is engaged in efforts aimed at mediating between the federal government and the opposition. The appointment of this committee comes at a time when President Xasan Sheekh Maxamuud recently stated that he is ready to meet with the opposition to discuss the political disputes.
