Meeting on the Protection of Children Against Armed Conflicts Held in Mogadishu

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Defense, Mr. Yusuf Ali Mohamed, chaired a meeting focused on strengthening the protection of Somali children and preventing their use in armed conflicts or militarization.

The meeting emphasized accelerating the implementation of the Vancouver Principles, which is an international framework aimed at enhancing measures to prevent the exploitation of children during armed conflicts.

During the meeting, the importance of strengthening cooperation between government agencies and international partners, particularly the Save the Children organization, was specifically highlighted to implement policies and plans to protect the rights of Somali children.

The meeting was attended by members of the Child Protection in Armed Conflict (CAAC Working Group), including representatives from the Ministry of Internal Security, the Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs, the Ministry of Education, Culture and Higher Education, and the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
