President Hassan Sheikh embarks on an undisclosed trip

The President of the Federal Government of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, has today embarked on an undisclosed trip that will take several hours to the country of Kenya.

Reports indicate that President Hassan Sheikh, upon arriving in Nairobi, was taken by a special plane to the city of Naivasha, where he held a meeting with President William Ruto and representatives of the international community, although the agenda of that meeting has not been officially disclosed.

Reports further add that President Hassan Sheikh will return to the city of Mogadishu later this afternoon.

This meeting comes at a time when the Future Council, which includes Puntland, Jubaland, and the opposition in Mogadishu, has called for the immediate holding of direct elections, demanding that the federal government halt the ongoing one-person, one-vote election process.

Debates regarding the type of election and the political process in the country have intensified in recent weeks, with the federal government insisting that it will conduct one-person, one-vote elections in the country.
