Sharif Sheikh Ahmed and Abdirahman Abdishakur strongly discuss the fighting in Mogadishu

Jun 03(Jowhar)-Former President of Somalia Sharif Sheikh Ahmed and politician MP Abdirahman Abdishakur have separately discussed the fighting that occurred today in Howlwadaag district, accusing the federal government of being behind the conflict.

In a brief post on his Facebook page, former President Sharif Sheikh Ahmed accused the Federal Government President Hassan Sheikh of being behind an attack he claimed was directed at former Prime Minister Hassan Ali Khaire.

“I strongly condemn the attack by former President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud against the former Prime Minister of the country Mr. Hassan Ali Khaire while he was in a meeting with the chief of the Murusade clan, Ugaas Cabdirisaaq Ugaas Cabdullahi Ugaas Xaashi Ugaas Faracadde and other elders.” he wrote in his post.

“This attack is part of the actions of Hassan Sheikh Mohamud who seeks to shed much blood while lacking an official term, as his time has expired.” he added.

Former President Sharif Sheikh Ahmed noted in his post that the fighting would not prevent the protests planned by the opposition.

“This attack will not prevent the protests of the capital's community against oppression, displacement, and the misuse of government power, and I call on the security forces not to take the wrongful orders of former President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud.”

Similarly, politician Abdirahman Abdishakur spoke strongly about the fighting that took place today in Mogadishu, which caused hundreds of families living in Howlwadaag and Hodon districts to flee their homes.

“I strongly condemn the attack by the expired leadership of Hassan Sheikh against the former Prime Minister Hassan Ali Khaire, the chief of the Murusade clan, the elders, and other community leaders who were engaged in peace efforts and resolving political disputes.” he said in his post.

“The attack targeting politicians, community leaders, and elders is a criminal act that reflects political confusion and incites conflict. The chief and the elders are not a party to the conflict; they are the pillars of peace, community unity, and resolving Somali disputes.” he added.

Abdirahman Abdishakur called on the armed forces to maintain their neutrality, avoid involvement in political disputes, and reject any orders against the public, elders, community leaders, and politicians. The military exists to defend the nation and the people, not to be used for specific political interests.
