The political tension in Mogadishu has escalated as the opposition prepares for major demonstrations, with the Banadir regional administration designating specific areas for these protests.

The Banadir regional administration announced in a press conference that areas including Koonis Stadium, Mogadishu Stadium, and the University Stadium in Hodan district have been designated for the protests, while the opposition has rejected this plan, insisting that the demonstrations should take place throughout the capital.

The Federal Government of Somalia has deployed many troops around the residence of former president Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed in Abdiaziz district, and efforts are underway by delegations from the Presidency to calm the situation and prevent political and security clashes.

The opposition is reported to have divided into several locations across Mogadishu, where they are preparing for the planned protests, while the Federal Government of Somalia has heightened security vigilance, with additional troops deployed to many key areas.
