Bosaso Springs Back to Life as Port Reopens Following Landmark Deal

Bosaso (WDN) – A wave of optimism swept across Puntland on Sunday morning as Bosaso Port and all commercial establishments officially reopened, bringing an end to days of disruption of the port operations and restoring the economic heartbeat of the region.

The bustling port city quickly returned to life, with busy markets, crowded streets, and long lines of cargo trucks signaling the resumption of normal business activities. Merchants reopened their shops, dockworkers returned to the port, and residents welcomed the renewed flow of goods after a dispute that had threatened to disrupt Puntland’s economy.

The reopening follows a breakthrough agreement reached on Saturday between the Puntland Government, DP World—the company that manages Bosaso Port—and representatives of the business community.

The dispute had centered on newly introduced port service charges, which traders argued would significantly increase the cost of importing goods and ultimately burden consumers across Puntland.
