Mogadishu (WDN)— Former Somali Custodial Corps Commander Mahad Abdirahman, widely known as “Taliye Shub,” has issued a series of inflammatory threats against Aadan Mohamed Nur (Aadan Madoobe), the leader of South West State, accusing him of orchestrating his arrest in Mogadishu and warning that he would never enjoy peace in Baidoa.
In a strongly worded public statement, the former security commander alleged that Aadan Madoobe was the architect of his detention in the Somali capital, claiming the arrest was politically motivated. He offered no evidence to support the accusation.
Shub went further, delivering what appeared to be an explicit threat of continued armed confrontation against the South West administration. “If you believe you will sleep peacefully and complete your term after seizing control of South West by force, then I alone will bear the blame for believing that. You will never sleep in peace. If you had come to power peacefully, you would have lived in peace,” he declared.
The former commander also asserted that there was now “only bullets” between himself and the South West leadership, insisting that there was no room for dialogue or political reconciliation. His remarks suggest a complete rejection of negotiations, raising fresh concerns over the risk of escalating violence in a region already grappling with political instability and persistent security challenges.
Shub further accused Aadan Madoobe of initiating the conflict by allegedly relying on the Federal Government of Somalia to secure and consolidate political power in South West State. According to the former commander, the use of federal backing to influence regional leadership ignited the confrontation that has since deepened political divisions.
The comments represent one of the most direct and provocative public attacks against the South West leadership in recent months. Security analysts warn that such rhetoric, particularly from former senior military figures, has the potential to inflame tensions and further destabilize an already fragile political environment.
Neither Aadan Madoobe nor the South West State administration has publicly responded to the allegations or the threats at the time of publication.
The latest exchange underscores the increasingly polarized political climate in South West State, where disputes over leadership, governance, and the role of the Federal Government continue to fuel confrontation. Whether the verbal escalation translates into renewed violence remains uncertain, but the remarks are likely to heighten concerns among political observers and security officials monitoring developments in the region.
