Somalia marked a significant academic milestone on July 8, 2026, as former Speaker of the House of the People of the Federal Parliament of Somalia, Dr. Mohamed Mursal Sheikh Abdirahman, successfully defended his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) dissertation in Law and Political Science at International Astrolabe University (IAU), earning the highest academic distinction of “Mumtaaz” (Excellent).
The achievement represents more than a personal academic triumph. It is widely regarded as a valuable contribution to Somalia’s growing body of scholarly research on governance, constitutional development, and democratic transformation at a time when the country continues to navigate complex political and institutional reforms.
