MOGADISHU, SOMALIA (SONNA) — The Commander of the Somali Infantry Forces, General Sahal Abdullahi Omar, alongside senior officers of the Somali National Armed Forces (SNA), hosted a high-level delegation from the Government of Italy at the Military Headquarters in Mogadishu today. The visiting delegation was accompanied by the Italian Military Attaché to Somalia, marking a deliberate step by both nations to deepen historical defense ties and harmonize ongoing security operations.

The high-level consultation centered on strengthening strategic cooperation and operational synergy between the SNA and the Italian Armed Forces. Specialized focus was placed on expanding bilateral frameworks for tactical support, implementing advanced training modules for ground troops, and accelerating institutional capacity-building programs designed to modernize Somalia’s defense architecture. General Sahal and the senior military command outlined the immediate priorities of the ground forces, emphasizing the necessity of sustained international partnerships to solidify domestic security gains.

Concluding the executive session, the Italian delegation and the Military Attaché expressed their gratitude to the SNA leadership for the warm reception and hospitality extended to them during their deployment to the capital.
