BRAZZAVILLE, REPUBLIC OF CONGO (SONNA) — The Minister of Finance of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Hon. Bihi Iman Cige, held a high-level bilateral meeting with the 9th President of the African Development Bank Group (AfDB), Dr. Sidi Ould Tah, on the sidelines of the ongoing AfDB Annual Meetings in Brazzaville. This executive economic dialogue focused primarily on evaluating Somalia’s substantial progress within its national economic reform framework, strengthening macro-fiscal growth stability, and highlighting the expanding portfolio of commercial investment and infrastructure development opportunities emerging across the nation.

During the consultations, both delegations assessed the strategic role that the continent’s premier multilateral financial institution plays in anchoring Somalia’s post-relief reconstruction era and financing high-impact development projects. Minister Cige reiterated the Federal Government of Somalia’s unyielding commitment to sustaining institutional fiscal reforms, optimizing the domestic investment climate, and creating sustainable employment infrastructure to secure a prosperous economic trajectory for the Somali public.

For his part, AfDB President Dr. Sidi Ould Tah reaffirmed the bank’s enduring partnership, noting that the institution remains fully dedicated to supporting Somalia’s national development priorities and strengthening its macroeconomic foundations as the country integrates deeper into regional economic markets.
