Al-Shabaab kills civilians in Hiiraan and the reason

Beledweyne (Caasimada Online) – At least five people have died, and nine others have been injured, after armed men from Al-Shabaab opened fire in a market located in the Tardo area of Hiiraan region.

Local sources have informed us that this incident occurred after men from Al-Shabaab arrived at the market, attempting to disarm an armed man who was present at the scene, who reportedly refused to lay down his weapon, leading to a confrontation and heavy gunfire.

The gunfire resulted in the deaths of five people and injuries to nine others, according to local sources, and the injured individuals were taken to medical facilities for treatment.

The situation is currently stable, and there has been no statement from Al-Shabaab regarding the incident that took place there.

This incident comes at a time when there are ongoing efforts to enhance security and community cooperation in the region and throughout Hiiraan.

Just days ago, elders from the Xawaadle clan and Al-Shabaab also reached an agreement, which was said to be a peace deal aimed at ending the conflict between the clan and the Khawaarij who had previously fought in Hiiraan region.
