Deadly Clan Violence Engulfs Jalalaqsi, Leaving Homes in Ruins and Communities Displaced

Mogadishu (WDN) — Fresh violence in the town of Jalalaqsi in Somalia’s Hiiraan region between rival clans left multiple people dead and wounded, while entire neighborhoods were reduced to ashes in a conflict that has already displaced large numbers of civilians.

The fighting, which erupted west of Jalalaqsi, has exposed the devastating human cost of recurring clan conflicts in a region already burdened by insecurity, displacement, and economic hardship.

According to authorities, numerous homes were set ablaze during the confrontation. Many of the houses destroyed had already been abandoned by residents fleeing the escalating violence, highlighting the growing humanitarian impact of the conflict.

In a statement issued in response to the crisis, the Hirshabelle administration called for an immediate and unconditional cessation of hostilities, urging the warring communities to lay down their arms before further bloodshed occurs.
