Beledweyne (Caasimada Online) – The chairman of the Hiiraan regional administration, Muuse Salaad Wehliye, announced this evening that he has resigned, due to the tensions in the region stemming from the grievances of the Xawaadle community regarding the administration of HirShabelle.

Muuse Salaad, in a press release, shared his resignation with the senior leadership of the HirShabelle Regional Government, particularly President Cali Guudlaawe and his deputy Mr. Cabdifataax Xasan Afrax, stating that the reason for his resignation was the differing views that arose between him and the senior leaders of HirShabelle regarding the approach and direction to address the grievances of the Hiiraan community.

“Since I cannot agree on the best way to address these issues, I have decided to resign, while upholding my conscience, my principles, and my feelings for the people of Hiiraan who are facing harsh circumstances,” said the chairman.

After that, the chairman went to see the Ugaas of the Xawaadle community, Ugaas Ugaas Xasan Ugaas Khaliif, who is located in the city of Beledweyne, where opposing sides to the HirShabelle administration are also present.

Muuse Salaad Wehliye was appointed as the chairman of the Hiiraan region a few days ago, after the previous chairman sided with the group opposing HirShabelle, which is currently active in Beledweyne, led by the former head of NISA, Cabdullaahi Maxamed Cali (Sanbaloolshe), who is organizing strong activities in that city.

I am Mr. Muuse Salaad Wehliye, the Chairman of Hiiraan Region. I am officially announcing my decision to resign from the position of Chairman of Hiiraan Region.

This decision stems from a difference of opinion between myself and the senior leadership regarding the approach and direction to address the grievances and complaints of the long-standing community of Hiiraan.

As Chairman, I have believed that the grievances of the people cannot be addressed with force, oppression, neglect, indifference, or delay, but rather require genuine listening, honest dialogue, national reconciliation, and effective measures to reassure the community with grievances.

I have always believed that holding a governmental position is a responsibility greater than the position one holds, and it is imperative to feel and consider the circumstances, complaints, and realities faced by the people for whom we are responsible.

Therefore, since I cannot agree on the best approach to address these issues, I have decided to resign, while upholding my conscience, principles, and the feelings I have for the people of Hiiraan facing harsh circumstances.

Finally, I pray to Allah for the people of Hiiraan for peace, justice, unity, and a government built on trust, shared ownership, and tangible mutual confidence.

Note: The position is a temporary one, but the conscience, principles, and feelings of the people are a responsibility that will remain with the person in office.
