Egypt Supports Stability in Lebanon and Strengthening the Role of National Institutions

Friday, September 25, 2026 {HMC} Egyptian Prime Minister Mustafa Madbouly confirmed on Thursday his country's support for the stability of Lebanon and its commitment to supporting the government to strengthen the role of national institutions.

Madbouly made this statement while in New York meeting with his Lebanese counterpart Nawaf Salam, which took place on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly, according to a statement from the Egyptian Cabinet.

The statement indicated that Madbouly met with Nawaf Salam while implementing the directives of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, and the meeting was attended by Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and Egypt's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Ihab Awad.

During the meeting, Madbouly emphasized Egypt's consistent position in supporting Lebanon and its commitment to supporting the national institutions of that country, "to preserve the stability, security, and territorial integrity of Lebanon, and to strengthen the capacity of government institutions to fulfill their duties during this critical phase."

For his part, Nawaf Salam expressed his happiness with the support Egypt provides to his country at the leadership, governmental, and popular levels.

Nawaf Salam stated that Egypt's positions supporting the Lebanese government and its national institutions reflect the depth of the historical relationship and brotherhood between the two countries and their peoples.

Nawaf Salam expressed his country's desire to strengthen coordination and continue consultations with Egypt in the upcoming period.

He also stated that the Lebanese government is interested in enhancing the level of cooperation between the two countries and expanding its opportunities, to serve the mutual interests of both countries.

High-level meetings and the general debate of the General Assembly began on Tuesday and are scheduled to continue until September 28, according to the official UN program.
