What did Muungaab say about the new leadership election in Galmudug?

Mogadishu (Caasimada Online) – The Governor of Banaadir Region and Mayor of Mogadishu, Mr. Xasan Maxamed Xuseen (Muungaab) has congratulated the new Leader of the Galmudug Regional Government, Mr. Liibaan Axmed Xasan and his Deputy, Cabdiweli Ibraahim Garyare, who were elected today Thursday in the city of Dhuusamareeb, the capital of Galgaduud region.

Muungaab, wishing the new leadership of Galmudug success and progress, also thanked the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission for organizing the election smoothly, praising their role in implementing a transparent electoral process and strengthening state-building.

The Mayor of Mogadishu also emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation between the Federal Government, regional governments, and the Banaadir Regional Administration, to accelerate peace, unity, and development in the country.

The congratulations from the Governor of Banaadir Region come as a significant change has occurred in Galmudug today, after the new leadership of the administration was elected with President Liibaan Axmed Xasan and his deputy Cabdiweli Garryare.

Liibaan, who has been engaged in a strong campaign for a long time, competed against candidate Cabdulqaadir Cabdullahi Diiriye, ultimately winning the Galmudug election with a significant majority, receiving 72 votes, while the other candidate received 14 votes, thus becoming the new President of Galmudug, replacing Axmed Cabdi Kaariye (Qoor Qoor).

} Similarly, Cabdiweli Ibraahim Garyarye, who won the Vice Presidency of Galmudug, received 64 votes, defeating Cabdisataar Maxamed Geelle, who received 20 votes, as announced by the chairman of the Galmudug Parliament who declared the election results.

However, the separation of the election for the Somali regional government of Galmudug comes at a sensitive time, yet the opposition groups welcomed the election of the new leadership of the Galmudug regional government.
