Minister of Fisheries and the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Somalia Sign Historic Agreement

The Minister of Fisheries and Blue Economy of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Mr. Ahmed Hassan Aden, and the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Somalia, Ambassador Wang Yu, today officially signed a historic agreement allowing Somali fishery products to be exported to Chinese markets with full tax exemption.

This agreement is historic for the development of the fisheries sector in Somalia, as it is the first time that Somali fish products will officially have access to the Chinese market with a tax exemption, which enhances the competitiveness and export opportunities for Somali fishermen and traders.

The Minister of Fisheries and Blue Economy, Mr. Ahmed Hassan Aden, stated that this agreement is a significant victory for Somalia, especially for fishermen, traders, and all stakeholders in the fisheries sector. The Minister noted that the agreement strengthens the economic ties between Somalia and China, while opening a new chapter of cooperation and investment beneficial to both countries.

For his part, the Chinese Ambassador to Somalia, Ambassador Wang Yu, pointed out that this agreement will facilitate trade between the two countries and will enhance trade exchanges and the development of economic cooperation. He also stated that the agreement will have tangible benefits for the people of Somalia and China.
