Mogadishu (WDN) — Discussions between the Nabad & Nolol political bloc and the Future Council are making cautious progress, with the two opposition groupings reportedly reaching agreement on one key issue, while another remains under discussion and Nabad & Nolol has attached a condition to a proposed joint initiative.
According to information obtained by WardheerNews through reports on Somali Media, a delegation from the Future Council visited the residence of former President Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed “Farmaajo” on Thursday night. The delegation included former Galmudug President Abdikarim Hussein Guled, former NISA Director Abdullahi Sanbalashe, and MP Geele, all members of the Future Council. MP Abdishakur Mire also attended the meeting alongside Farmaajo.
The delegation reportedly conveyed a message from senior Future Council leaders, calling for the opposition to harmonize its positions on the upcoming elections and the political transition period. The initiative appears aimed at preventing President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud from exploiting divisions within the opposition to extend or strengthen his political position.
Farmaajo welcomed the proposal, according to sources familiar with the discussions, and expressed support for developing a unified opposition position. He also emphasized that his political stance was not driven by personal hostility toward any particular individual.
