Puntland Authorities Hunt Suspects in Killing of Gaalkacyo Businessman

GAALKACYO,— Security forces in Somalia’s Puntland state are searching for suspects accused of killing businessman Ahmed Yusuf Haamey, who was shot dead in the city of Gaalkacyo, according to an initial statement from Puntland authorities.

Puntland security officials appealed for calm following the killing, warning residents against retaliation or any actions that could further threaten public security.

Authorities also cautioned against targeting individuals or communities based solely on allegations that they may be linked to the suspects. Officials urged the victim’s relatives and supporters to allow security agencies to investigate the case and bring those responsible to justice.

Puntland authorities said the perpetrators would be pursued wherever they went and vowed to arrest them and bring them before a court.
