Some of the opposition to Xasan Shiikh have supported the election held by his government in Galmudug, which they had previously criticized.

The House of Representatives of the Galmudug administration today elected Liibaan Axmed Xasan as its leader, in an election that took place in the city of Dhuusamareeb.

Liibaan, who was a candidate for the JSP party led by President Xasan Sheekh Maxamuud, received 72 votes, while his opponent Cabdulqaadir Cabdullahi Diiriye received 14 votes, with 3 votes being invalid.

This result was announced by the Chairman of the Galmudug House of Representatives, Xuseen Maxamed Nuur.

Additionally, the Deputy Leader of the Galmudug administration was elected by the House of Representatives as Cabdiweli Ibraahin Garyare, who is a member of the Upper House of Somalia.

Liibaan is expected to take over the position from Axmed Cabdi Kaariye "Qoor Qoor," who is currently in office but did not participate in the election.

The election in Galmudug was largely anticipated, as the JSP organization had gained a majority of the representatives in the one-person, one-vote election that took place at the end of September in the Galmudug regions.

Galmudug has become the second administration whose leader has been elected by a House of Representatives chosen by the people, although the opposition in Somalia has heavily criticized the one-person, one-vote election.

Some of the opposition who previously rejected the election have sent congratulations to Liibaan.

Many politicians from the Somali opposition have congratulated the new leader of the Galmudug administration, Liibaan Axmed Xasan.

Among the politicians sending congratulations are former Prime Minister of Somalia Maxamed Xuseen Rooble, former President of Galmudug Cabdikariin Xuseen Guuleed, MP Cabdirixmaan Odowaa, MP Sanyare, and other politicians.

These men who sent congratulations were the opposition of Hassan Sheikh who harshly criticized the one-person, one-vote election which was the result of the election that took place today in Galmudug.
