GENEVA, SWITZERLAND (SONNA) — The Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Somalia to the United Nations Office in Geneva, Her Excellency Khadra Duale, has continued her high-level engagement at the International Labour Conference (#ILC2026), reinforcing Somalia’s diplomatic footprint in global labor governance and social protection dialogues. The ongoing conference serves as an essential multilateral forum where global leaders, diplomats, and labor experts deliberate on shifting employment dynamics and structural reforms necessary to safeguard worker welfare in an evolving global economy.

During the high-level sessions, Ambassador Duale participated in the official launch of a benchmark report titled “Reforming Social Protection in the Kingdom of Oman to Align with the Future of Work.” This strategic document outlines Oman’s framework for updating its social security architectures to match modern economic realities. The launch event was hosted by His Excellency Idris Abdul Rahman Al Khanjari and held under the auspices of Oman’s Minister of Labour, Professor Dr. Mahad Said Ali Baawain, alongside the Director-General of the International Labour Organization (ILO), Gilbert F. Houngbo.

Ambassador Duale’s active involvement emphasizes Somalia’s commitment to absorbing international best practices as the Federal Government shapes its own domestic socio-economic architectures.
