Somali Security Forces Complete Crime Investigation Training Somali police officers and personnel from the National Intelligence and Security Agency have completed a year-long advanced training programme focused on modern crime investigation and crime scene management. The training was designed to strengthen the ability of security institutions to collect, preserve and assess evidence needed for reliable criminal investigations.
The programme comes as Somalia continues efforts to strengthen the investigative capacity of its security and justice institutions. The training was supported by the United States government and delivered by international experts specialising in criminal investigation and forensic science.
Over the course of 12 months, participating officers were trained in modern techniques for investigating crimes and examining crime scenes. They also learned procedures for collecting evidence and ensuring that material recovered from crime scenes remains properly preserved.
The training included methods for verifying information considered important to criminal investigations, with an emphasis on professional procedures that can help investigators establish facts and build reliable cases.
