SCAA Urges Airlines, Airports and Passengers to Monitor Changing Weather Conditions

MOGADISHU (WDN) — Somalia is expected to receive rainfall across several parts of the country in the coming days, prompting the Somali Civil Aviation Authority (SCAA) to issue a weather alert and urge heightened caution among aviation operators and passengers.

The SCAA said forecasts indicate moderate to heavy rainfall in parts of western Somalia, the central regions and areas of the east. Among the regions expected to receive moderate rainfall are Sool, Nugaal, Mudug, Shabelle and Gedo, although rainfall intensity is expected to vary by location.

The authority warned that changing weather conditions could affect flight safety and urged airlines, airports and passengers to closely monitor weather forecasts and aviation advisories.

Passengers travelling during the affected period are therefore advised to remain alert to official weather and flight information and follow updates issued by airlines and aviation authorities.

Despite the expected rainfall, the SCAA said current forecasts do not indicate a major storm or cyclone affecting Somalia during the coming week.

The authority said it will continue monitoring weather conditions through forecasts and daily reports to provide information on developments that could affect flights and air safety across Somalia. “We urge all airlines, airports and users of aviation services to closely monitor changes in weather forecasts,” the SCAA said.
