Somalia Welcomes the Understanding Agreement Reached Between the United States and Iran

Mogadishu – The Federal Government of Somalia has officially welcomed the Understanding Agreement reached between the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran, describing it as an important step towards easing tensions and strengthening peace and stability in the region.

A press release issued by the Somali government stated that Somalia commends both sides for their commitment to diplomacy and dialogue, which can help reduce tensions and promote lasting peace.

Somalia also praised the role played by Pakistan, Qatar, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey in supporting diplomatic efforts that led to this agreement.

The press release also mentioned the role of U.S. President Donald Trump in encouraging peace efforts and dialogue between the concerned parties.

The Somali government expressed hope that the agreement will be implemented with sincerity and goodwill, to protect the lives of civilians, ensure freedom of movement, and prevent any situation that could lead to further tensions.

Finally, Somalia reaffirmed its position on supporting diplomacy, respecting international laws, and resolving conflicts peacefully, welcoming all efforts to promote peace, security, and stability in the Middle East, the Horn of Africa, and the Red Sea region.
