The Commanders of the Armed Forces and NISA Shared a Sensitive Matter with the Parliament + Photos

Mogadishu (Caasimada Online) – The Defense Committee of the House of the People of Somalia held a special meeting today at the headquarters of the Speaker and Committees at Villa Hargeysa with the Commander of the Somali National Army, Major General Ibrahim Mohamed Mahmoud, and the Director of the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA), Mahad Mohamed Salad, who shared sensitive issues with the committee.

This meeting was part of efforts related to the preparation and review of the national defense bill, which is crucial for shaping the country's defense policy and strengthening the capacity of security agencies responsible for safeguarding the independence and territorial integrity of Somalia.

Additionally, the meeting, chaired by the Chairman of the Defense Committee of the House of the People, MP Yusuf Geele Ugaas, focused on the recommendations and views that the commanders have regarding the National Defense Bill, while listening to their proposals concerning the articles they consider important to be included in the law.

The commanders of the National Army and NISA presented recommendations regarding the bill, which relate to the importance of having legislation that aligns with the needs of national defense and the responsibilities of security agencies guiding operations related to the defense of the country.

For their part, the members of the defense committee of the House of the People listened to the views presented by the commanders, discussing the importance of considering the recommendations and experiences of the leaders of the most important security and defense agencies in the country in the bill.

} Finally, it was agreed that the recommendations and views proposed by the commanders would be included in the national defense legislation, as it is essential for building a legal framework that guides national defense and related security operations.

This meeting demonstrates the cooperation between the House of the People and the senior leadership of the security agencies, particularly their joint role in preparing laws that impact defense and internal security in Somalia.
