Nairobi (HOL) — Kenya’s Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) arrested two women at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for allegedly attempting to smuggle 658 grams of gold out of the country.
In a statement on Sunday, the DCI said the suspects, Mahamed Shukri Abdulahi and Sabriye Farhiyo Hussein, were intercepted in the early hours of Sept. 4 as they prepared to board an Emirates flight to Dubai.
Detectives said Mahamed Shukri Abdulahi was found with a gold bar weighing 541 grams concealed in her hair, wrapped with a hairband and hidden beneath her hijab.
