UN Winds Down Prison Support in Somalia Amid Deepening Financial Crisis

The UN office is also preparing for a broader operational wind-down, including further staff reductions and the eventual closure of parts of its operations in Somalia.

Some employees have already been notified that their contracts will end and that salaries will not be available beyond September 2026, raising fresh concerns about the future of UN-supported programs in the country.
