Warsame: "When my siblings went to school, I was kept at home, even the people who came to our house were hidden from me"

Warsame Cabdiqaadir Axmed, known on social media as King Short Warsame, is among those who actively use TikTok and Facebook, utilizing them for awareness and entertaining those who follow him, sharing his daily life, thoughts, and experiences.

Born and raised in the Kakuma refugee camp in Kenya, Warsame now lives in Canada, where he initially went for educational opportunities.

Recently sharing his story with BBC Somali, Warsame stated that he entered social media to build his self-confidence, sharing with the community that the situation faced by people like him does not make one incapable of achieving anything.

"The differences that set me apart from others have greatly affected me; people look at you differently, they say things about you, and that is where your confidence gets lost. Social media has helped me regain my confidence, accept that I can be talked about, and that it doesn't bother me to be talked about."

What makes Warsame different from others?

Warsame Cabdiqaadir's height is 114 cm, and at the age of thirty, he does not appear to be that age, which has made him different from the community he comes from, and he faces significant discrimination from many people similar to him.

Although he is now a well-known figure on his online platforms, where he shares videos on social media, it has become a way for him to connect with thousands of people living in various countries. He shares daily events, his experiences, and motivational messages about self-confidence and self-acceptance.

Warsame lives with a medical condition known as Dwarfism, which is a condition where an adult's height is significantly shorter than the average person's.

It is often caused by changes in a person's genetic makeup, although sometimes it can be caused by diseases or issues affecting human growth.

The perception of short people and the challenges they face

Warsame pointed out that it is difficult to live in a community like the Somali one, stating that people do not see him as someone similar to them.
