The Minister of Information Meets with the Russian Minister of Culture in Saint Petersburg

Saint Petersburg, Russia – The Minister of the Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism of the Federal Government of Somalia, Mr. Abdifatah Qasim Mahmoud, held a bilateral meeting in Saint Petersburg with the Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation, Mrs. Olga Lyubimova.

The meeting focused on strengthening the cooperation between Somalia and Russia in the cultural sector, with both sides specifically discussing the preservation and development of cultural heritage, arts, literature, and theaters.

Additionally, they discussed cultural research, the exchange of experts and artists, and the development of cultural centers in both countries.

Both Ministers also raised the acceleration of the cultural cooperation agreement between Somalia and Russia, and how to implement effective programs and projects that contribute to the development and enhancement of culture.

Minister Abdifatah Qasim emphasized the importance Somalia places on culture and the arts, noting that culture plays a vital role in preserving national identity, connecting communities, and strengthening the relationship between the peoples of both countries.

On her part, the Russian Minister of Culture Olga Lyubimova highlighted the importance of strengthening the relationship between cultural institutions in Somalia and Russia, pledging that cooperation and support between the two sides would be further enhanced.

This meeting was part of the meetings the Minister of Information is having with leaders and officials participating in the 12th International Forum of United Cultures, which this year is being held in Saint Petersburg, Russia.
