The Minister of Information of Somalia Receives the Ambassador of Algeria

Mogadishu – The Minister of the Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism of the Federal Government of Somalia, Mr. Abdifatah Qasim Mahmoud, received the Ambassador of the Algerian Government to Somalia, Ambassador Mohamed Alim.

The meeting discussed strengthening the historical relationship and longstanding cooperation between Somalia and Algeria, particularly in the areas of information, culture, tourism, and the development of media collaboration between the two countries.

Both sides also addressed the importance of enhancing cooperation among media institutions, exchanging experiences and professional training, promoting culture, art, and literature, and modernizing government media.

After the meeting, the Minister and the Ambassador jointly visited various sections of the National Media, including the Somali National News Agency (SONNA), the Somali National Television (SNTV), Radio Mogadishu, and the Historical Archive of Radio Mogadishu.

They also visited the Somali National Theatre, where they were warmly welcomed by the National Artists of Waaberi and traditional sports teams. The teams presented performances reflecting the richness of Somali heritage, culture, and art.

The Algerian Ambassador, Ambassador Mohamed Alim, thanked the Ministry of Information for the warm welcome, expressing how committed the Algerian Government is to strengthening the relationship and cooperation with Somalia, particularly in the areas of information, culture, art, and literature.

On his part, Minister Abdifataax Qasim Mahmoud emphasized the importance of strengthening the cooperation between the two countries, noting that collaboration in the fields of media, arts, and culture can play a significant role in the development of national media, the preservation of heritage and culture, and the exchange of experiences between the two countries. The Minister also thanked the Ambassador for his visit and efforts to strengthen the relationship between Somalia and Algeria.

Finally, this meeting demonstrates the efforts that Somalia and Algeria are seeking to further strengthen their historical relationship, while also expanding cooperation in the fields of media, culture, arts, and literature, in order to create new opportunities that lead to knowledge exchange, media development, and the enhancement of relations between the two peoples.
