Mogadishu (Caasimada Online) – The President of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, today sent a serious political message to the opposition members who oppose his government, who argue that his four-year term ended on May 15, 2026, however, the President stated that the term of government institutions ends when it reaches May 15, 202, as stipulated by the new constitution.

Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, who today received the new ambassador of Djibouti, Col. Osman Dubbad Sugulle, at the presidential palace, held a grand presentation, as Villa Somalia broadcast a beautiful video and a high-level event held for the ambassador at the presidential headquarters.

The purpose of the event was for the president to receive the credentials of the new ambassador of the Republic of Djibouti appointed to Somalia, who recently arrived in Mogadishu.

The President congratulated the new ambassador on his appointment and wished him success and fruitful work, emphasizing the importance of strengthening fraternal relations, political cooperation, security, and economic ties between Somalia and the Republic of Djibouti.

For his part, the new ambassador, who shared a message and greetings from the President of the Republic of Djibouti, Mr. Ismail Omar Guelleh, thanked the Somali government for the warm welcome he received, presenting his plans to strengthen diplomatic relations and cooperation between the two governments.

Yesterday, the president also received the Turkish ambassador to Somalia, Alper Aktaş, during a meeting that was politically significant. Turkey is not just a country with normal relations with Somalia; it is one of the closest allies of Mogadishu and plays a major role in security, military training, economic infrastructure, humanitarian aid, maritime cooperation, and building government institutions.

These actions undermine the position of the opposition, particularly their argument that Hassan Sheikh cannot be recognized as the sitting president after May 15. However, these meetings weaken that effort, as they show that some of the most influential countries in Somalia are still not distancing themselves from Villa Somalia.
