NISA Chief Concludes Landmark Reconciliation Conference, Urges Communities to Safeguard Lasting Peace

Caabudwaaq (WDN ) – Somalia’s National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) Director-General, Mahad Mohamed Salad, has concluded a landmark reconciliation conference that brought together two brotherly clans whose long-running conflict has undermined security, disrupted livelihoods, and strained social cohesion across northern Galgaduud.

The successful conclusion of the peace initiative marks a significant step toward restoring stability in a region that has endured years of intermittent communal violence. Addressing participants at the closing ceremony, Mahad Salad emphasized that the true measure of the agreement would be its faithful implementation. He called on traditional leaders, elders, and community representatives to remain united in protecting the hard-won peace and preventing any return to conflict.

The NISA chief also directed Somalia’s security agencies to enforce the law against anyone who attempts to violate the terms of the reconciliation agreement or undermine the peace achieved through dialogue. He stressed that lasting stability requires both community commitment and firm adherence to the rule of law.

Mahad praised the elders, religious leaders, intellectuals, and all those who devoted their time and influence to the reconciliation process, describing their efforts as essential to rebuilding trust between the two communities.
