War of Words Erupts Between Somali General and Parliament Deputy Speaker Amid Rising Lower Shabelle Tensions

Mogadishu (WDN) – A public war of words has erupted between Somali police officer General Cabdalla Cabdalla and the Second Deputy Speaker of the House of the People, MP Abdullaahi Cumar Abshirow, after the two exchanged serious accusations on social media amid growing insecurity and escalating clan tensions in the Lower Shabelle region.

The dispute began after MP Abshirow reportedly accused General Cabdalla of inciting unrest in Lower Shabelle and warned that he could face arrest over his alleged role in fueling the conflict.

Supporters of General Cabdalla reject those accusations, noting that the general recently attended a peaceful public demonstration in the coastal town of Marka, where residents called for improved public services, infrastructure development, and greater government investment in the region.

The general is also widely recognized by his supporters for his role in military operations that helped liberate several villages from Al-Shabaab. They contrast his record with that of some elected representatives from the region, arguing that several lawmakers have rarely visited the communities they represent.
