BREAKING: Liibaan Axmed Xasan elected as President of Galmudug

Dhuusamareeb (Caasimada Online) – Liibaan Axmed Xasan has just been elected as the new President of the Galmudug State in the election that took place in Dhuusamareeb.

Liibaan Axmed Xasan, who has been campaigning vigorously for a long time, competed against candidate Cabdulqaadir Cabdullahi Diiriye, whom he ultimately defeated in the Galmudug election.

Additionally, Liibaan won by a significant majority, receiving 72 votes, while the other candidate received 14 votes, thus becoming the new President of Galmudug, replacing Axmed Cabdi Kaariye (Qoor Qoor).

The result of this election was anticipated, as Liibaan Axmed Xasan had strong support from Villa Somalia, which has significant influence over Galmudug affairs.

On the other hand, the election for the Vice President will soon commence, with candidates Cabdisataar Maxamed Geelle and Cabdiweli Ibraahim Garyare, representing the Sincad party and JSP respectively, competing fiercely. However, Garyare, who is part of President Xasan Sheekh Maxamuud's party, is predicted to succeed, as he has already been granted the party's candidacy card.

Regardless, the outcome of the Galmudug State election comes at a sensitive time, as the opposition has previously rejected the manner in which elections were conducted in South West and the Banaadir region.

In any case, Somalia is currently in a difficult phase due to a serious crisis regarding how Villa Somalia is handling both federal and state-level elections, which the opposition opposes.
