BREAKING: Hassan Sheikh removes the Chief Justice

Mogadishu (Caasimada Online) – The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, has dismissed the Chairman of the Supreme Court of the country, Dr. Bashir Yusuf Ahmed, and appointed Lawyer Ibrahim Idle Suleiman to that position.

The president's decision came after he considered complaints from the country's judges, court staff, and legal professionals, which related to the need for improving the judicial system, as stated by the Presidency of Somalia.

These complaints highlighted the importance of reviewing the operations of judicial institutions, to ensure that Somali citizens receive efficient, fair, and reliable judicial services.

The appointment of Lawyer Ibrahim Idle Suleiman came as the president seeks to ensure that the leadership of the Supreme Court plays a significant role in the reform and development of Somalia's judicial system.

President Hassan Sheikh wished the new chairman success in fulfilling the heavy responsibilities assigned to him, noting the responsibility of leading the highest judicial authority in the country.

Additionally, the president emphasized to the new chairman the importance of upholding judicial independence, adhering to the law, and ensuring equal justice, in order to strengthen public trust in judicial institutions.

This step is also part of a broader reform plan being implemented in the country's judicial institutions, aimed at achieving an efficient, independent, and trustworthy judiciary.
