Dr. Mohamed Mohamoud Ulusow Clarifies Future Council Proposal for Transitional Supreme Council

Mogadishu (WDN ) – Dr. Mohamed Mohamoud Ulusow, a political analyst and a former government official has issued a clarification following what he described as misinformation and misinterpretation circulating on social media, particularly TikTok, regarding the recent proposal by the Somalia Future Council to establish a Transitional Supreme Council.

According to Dr. Ulusow, the proposal does not seek to dismantle, replace, or diminish Somalia’s internationally recognized statehood. Instead, he said, it is intended as an emergency constitutional mechanism to safeguard a state that he argues is facing an unprecedented legitimacy crisis.

“The establishment of a Transitional Supreme Council would neither undermine Somalia’s sovereignty nor weaken its international recognition,” Dr. Ulusow said. “Its sole purpose is to preserve the continuity of state institutions and rescue the country’s constitutional order before it deteriorates further.”

He argued that Somalia has effectively lost four years to prolonged political deadlock and warned that the country’s state-building project has reached what he described as a “critical stage,” requiring urgent political intervention.
