Farmaajo Congratulates the Somali People on the Week of Freedom

Mogadishu – The former President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Mr. Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo, has sent congratulations to the Somali people everywhere on the occasion of June 26 and the Week of Somali Freedom.

In a statement he issued, Farmaajo stated that June 26 is a historic day to remember the freedom of the northern regions of Somalia in 1960, which he described as the foundation of the struggle for independence and the vision of uniting the Somali people.

The former president noted that this year's commemoration comes at a time when the country is facing challenges including conflicts, political disputes, and security situations that, as he stated, threaten the unity, togetherness, and governance of Somalia.

Farmaajo called on the Somali people to commemorate the Week of Freedom significantly and to strengthen their national awareness, safeguarding the unity and togetherness of the Somali people.

He also emphasized the importance of working together to protect national sovereignty, peace, and the aspirations for which the heroes of the Somali independence struggle fought.
