The Chairman of the Electoral Commission Appears at Liibaan Shuluq's Campaign

The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Cabdikariin Axmed, appeared yesterday at a campaign meeting involving the candidate supported by the Federal Government for the administration of Galmudug, Liibaan Shuluq, the Director of the NISA Agency, Mahad Salaad, and traditional elders.

The meeting, which took place in Mogadishu, discussed the electoral issues of the Galmudug administration and how support could be shown for the candidate Liibaan Axmed Xasan (Liibaan Shuluq), as confirmed by witnesses.

Chairman Cabdikariin has been accused of violating the law of the Electoral Commission and losing neutrality by siding with one party.

The meeting was also criticized for having the flag of the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) present, with the meeting described as clan-based and supportive of the candidate.

Mahad Salaad, who was initially a candidate for Galmudug, ultimately withdrew in favor of Liibaan Shuluq after an agreement was reached recently with President Xasan Sheekh Maxamuud.

The Federal Government of Somalia intends to hold a one-person, one-vote election in Galmudug soon, while the Qoorqoor administration has criticized that election, viewing it as one-sided.
