The Director General of the Somali Civil Aviation Authority, Mr. Ahmed Moallin Hassan, presented a report at a meeting held by the Ministry of Planning, Investment and Economic Development with ministers and officials from the Ministries of Communications and Information, which evaluated the preparation of the Government Performance Report for the period 2022–2026.

During the meeting, the Director General presented the progress made by the Somali Civil Aviation Authority in the past four years and its role in the economic development and aviation services of the country.

The officials praised the systematic approach taken by the Ministry of Planning in preparing the report, emphasizing the importance of recording the performance of government agencies with accurate and verified data. The Minister of Planning instructed the technical teams to expedite the completion of the report so that it becomes an official document that effectively reflects the achievements and performance of the Federal Government of Somalia during the period 2022–2026.

On the other hand, the Somali Civil Aviation Authority has received modern equipment from WFP/UNHAS to enhance Search and Rescue (SAR) operations.

In a statement published on its social media page, the Somali Civil Aviation Authority (HDRS) recently welcomed a large delegation led by the head of the World Food Programme (WFP), which included the head of the Aviation Section of the United Nations (UNHAS) and representatives from international agencies operating in Somalia. During the visit, the HDRS Director, Mr. Ahmed Moallin Hassan, provided the delegation with a report on the progress made by the agency, priority activities for WFP/UNHAS, and opportunities to further strengthen cooperation between the two sides.

The delegation also toured various sections of the agency, commending the progress made in the management and services of Civil Aviation.

The event also included the presentation of modern equipment to HDRS to enhance Search and Rescue operations for aircraft accidents (Search and Rescue – SAR), which aligns with the opening of a new center that will operate 24 hours a day. This equipment enhances emergency communication capabilities, locating and tracking aircraft or individuals in emergency situations, and accelerating response to rescue operations in accordance with the standards of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). This donation is part of the ongoing support that WFP/UNHAS provides to the Somali Civil Aviation Authority to enhance safety and security in the country's aviation. At the end of the visit, WFP/UNHAS confirmed that they will continue their support in developing Somali airports, enhancing staff capacity, and improving the regulatory systems of the Aviation Authority. The HDRS Director thanked WFP/UNHAS for their support and cooperation with the agency, noting that the Federal Government of Somalia is continuously advancing the modernization of air traffic management and enhancing aviation safety. Finally, both sides signed documents for the transfer of equipment and an agreement to further strengthen future cooperation.
