The President of Puntland, Siciid Cabdullaahi Deni, has strongly addressed the political situation in the country, and he has made serious accusations against the leaders of the Federal Government of Somalia.

“The legality of the federal government institutions, which was set to expire on May 15, has ended, and the Somali Future Council has announced that Xasan Sheekh has been recognized as the former President of Somalia. We have made efforts to establish a framework for an agreement, but it is unfortunate that the former President has hijacked the federal institutions,” said the President of Puntland.

“Puntland has opposed the political and legal hijacking that the former President has carried out against the framework of the agreement, and he is directly attacking the federal framework and the administrations in the country. The former President has openly created piracy; he previously launched an armed attack on Raaskambooni, killing Somali citizens. He has also caused political turmoil and a coup in the city of Baydhabo, undermining the administrative framework in South West,” said the President of Puntland, Siciid Cabdullaahi Deni.

The President of Puntland accused President Xasan Sheekh of obstructing the people's uprising in the Sool region and the Cal-miskaad conflict, stating, “Xasan Sheekh attempted in December 2023 to hinder the uprising of the people in the Sool region, and the brotherly people of Puntland rejected his divisive intentions. He has also politically obstructed the conflict between Puntland forces and Daacish.

Finally, the President of Puntland stated that Puntland will operate as an independent government and has the right to enter into international agreements to develop its region.

“The Puntland government has not yet given up on being part of a federal Somali government, but until a framework for an agreement is found, Puntland has the right to enter into international agreements for security, economy, and investment, and it welcomes anyone who wishes to invest,” said President Deni.
