The President of Puntland, Said Abdullahi Deni, has strongly addressed issues related to security and politics in Puntland, stating that Puntland cannot implement practices of mobilizing special forces for political positions or to defend personal interests.

The President stated that some politicians who have been removed from office are trying to seek support from Mogadishu to build their own forces, noting that this is a new issue in Puntland, and it has not occurred in the Puntland administration since its establishment.

“Someone is being removed from office, discussions are happening in Xamar, they are forming a militia. There has not been a president in Puntland who has carried a weapon, what has emerged are men seeking weapons,” said President Deni.

On the other hand, President Deni stated that some of those removed from office are trying to seek arms and support from Mogadishu, but he believes that this issue cannot take root in Puntland, emphasizing that Puntland has a governmental system and security agencies capable of maintaining stability and order.

Additionally, the President of Puntland spoke about the general situation of the Somali community, criticizing the notion that Somalis are entirely homogeneous. He stated that although they share religion, language, and general culture, there are tribal divisions that affect coexistence and mutual acceptance within the community. “It is said that Somalis are the same and share the same religion, culture, and language, but Somalis are divided by clans that sometimes do not agree,” he said.
