President Hassan Sheikh praises the citizens participating in the elections of Galmudug and Hirshabelle

The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, has praised the Somali people who participated today in the elections for the House of Representatives and the Local Councils of the states of Galmudug and Hirshabelle.

President Hassan Sheikh stated that today is an important day in the history of democracy in Somalia, after the citizens of the regions of Mudug, Galguduud, Hiiraan, and Middle Shabelle peacefully flocked to the polling stations.

The President specifically commended the thousands of citizens who exercised their constitutional right to vote, noting that public participation plays a crucial role in strengthening governance, democracy, and representation of the people.

Additionally, Hassan Sheikh expressed gratitude to the Somali security forces who ensured the safety of the polling stations and the public, stating that the elections were held in a peaceful, stable, and secure environment.

The President mentioned that these elections reflect the desire of the Somali people for the establishment of an inclusive governance, the strengthening of peace, and the implementation of a political process based on the will of the people.

The elections in Galmudug and Hirshabelle are part of the country's transition to a direct electoral process and the strengthening of democratic institutions.
