President Hassan Sheikh Participates in the Inauguration of the New Leadership of Galmudug

Thursday 5 Nov 2026 {HMC} The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Mr. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, today participated in the inauguration ceremony of the newly elected leadership of the Galmudug Regional Government, which took place in the city of Dhuusamareeb, the capital of Galmudug.

The President praised the historic elections that were conducted peacefully and civilly in Galmudug, which have shown progress in the democratic process and the implementation of the one-person, one-vote election system for two consecutive terms, sending congratulations to the new leadership that came through the votes of the people of Galmudug.

President Hassan Sheikh highlighted in his speech the overall situation of the country, particularly the efforts to ensure security, the fight against the Khawarij, strengthening governance, advancing democratization, and the plan to implement direct elections where citizens will choose their leaders.

The President noted that the Federal Government is committed to listening to and considering various political perspectives, emphasizing that there will never be a compromise on the principle of restoring the Somali people's constitutional right to elect their leaders.
