What’s new at the Turkish satellite center in Somalia?

Warsheekh (Caasimada Online) – The Turkish Ambassador to Somalia, Ferhat Alkan, visited the site of the space center to be established in the district of Warsheekh, Shabelle Dhexe region, where construction related to the project is ongoing.

During his time at the site, the Turkish Ambassador was accompanied by other officials, and he inspected the various sections of the center where construction is taking place.

The Ambassador also held a meeting with the workers and the management overseeing the project, inquiring about the progress of the construction work and the plans to complete the center.

This project is part of the cooperation between Somalia and Turkey, as both governments have recently focused on accelerating the construction of the space center located in the Shabelle Dhexe region.

The inspection came hours after the President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, spoke about the space center project, indicating that it could benefit Turkey, Somalia, and the entire African continent.

Erdogan also highlighted the importance of the project for the cooperation between the two countries, as Ankara and Mogadishu expand their projects and relations in various sectors.

The center is expected to carry out activities related to satellites, with the site being established in the Warsheekh area of the Shabelle Dhexe region.

Nevertheless, the governments of Somalia and Turkey are jointly working to accelerate the construction of the center, as the project is part of the cooperation between the two sides in the fields of technology and aerospace.
