Mogadishu (Caasimada Online) – The Governor of Banaadir Region and Mayor of Mogadishu, Mr. Hassan Mohamed Hussein (Muungaab), who is on an official visit to Djibouti, today held a special meeting with the President of that country, Mr. Ismail Omar Guelleh.

Muungaab and his delegation paid a courtesy visit to the President, and were also accompanied by his Djiboutian counterpart, Mr. Said Daoud Mohamed (Saïd Daoud), who had initially invited him to the country.

The Mayor of Mogadishu conveyed a message from the President of Somalia, Mr. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, and the people of the capital, while also informing him about the various developments taking place in Mogadishu.

He also expressed gratitude for the warm welcome extended to him by his Djiboutian counterpart, the government, and the people of that country.

For his part, President Ismail Omar Guelleh, who warmly welcomed Governor Muungaab, noted that he is pleased with the level of fraternal relations and cooperation between the two countries and their peoples.

This meeting was preceded by an agreement that the Mayor of Mogadishu signed yesterday with his counterpart in Djibouti, Said Daoud Mohamed, which is a memorandum aimed at strengthening cooperation between the two capitals, particularly in the areas of economy, trade, investment, culture, and development.

This agreement is also said to serve as a basis for direct cooperation between the administrations of Mogadishu and Djibouti, as both sides seek to create new business and investment opportunities.

However, the agreement between the two capitals comes at a time when the federal government of Somalia and Djibouti are also expanding their political and diplomatic relations.
