UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer Resigns

Jun 21(Jowhar)-UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer has announced his resignation from the position of Prime Minister. He also stated that he is resigning from the leadership of the Labour Party.

The Prime Minister has faced significant pressure since Andy Burnham won the by-election in Makerfield last week.

If the UK gets a new Prime Minister – the fifth in four years – a new cabinet will be appointed and a new political program will be established. In a speech, Starmer said;

“Thank you Thank you Walking this road two years ago was the proudest moment of my life. A new Labour government. For the first time in 14 years. A page of our country's history has turned after many years of disappointment and despair.” he began his speech.

“Six years ago, I inherited a Labour party that was in decline politically, economically, and morally. I was told, time and again, that my party was finished.” he said.

The resigning Prime Minister stated that he will ask the National Executive Committee of the Labour Party to set a timetable for the appointment process to open on July 9, concluding after the summer recess.
