Mogadishu (Caasimada Online) – The coastal guard forces of the Puntland administration have intensified their heavy operations along the coasts of the region, in order to prevent piracy activities that have once again resurfaced along the shores of Somalia.

A press release from Puntland stated that the forces have once again commenced operations targeting pirates, to ensure the security of the region's coasts, while the public has been provided with information regarding the emerging situations.

“The Puntland Maritime Forces are informing the Puntland community and all relevant parties that they have begun operations to enhance the security and safety of Puntland's coasts, particularly to prevent piracy and related security threats. These operations are part of efforts to protect the coasts, property, and the safety of the public and those who use the sea,” the statement said.

Additionally, the Puntland Maritime Forces have issued a strong warning to groups engaged in or planning acts of piracy, stating that legal action will be taken against anyone involved in activities that threaten the security and safety of the sea.

The public is also urged to avoid anything that may assist or facilitate these piracy activities that have emerged along the coasts of Puntland.

“Collaboration between the public and the forces is crucial for ensuring the security of the coasts. The communities living in coastal areas, fishermen, traders, and all those who use the sea are encouraged to work closely with the forces and to promptly report any information related to suspicious activities or acts of piracy,” the statement reiterated.

They also emphasized their call for data sharing and community vigilance, as timely and accurate information can greatly contribute to preventing threats and ensuring the safety of the community.

“Anyone with information related to acts of piracy is encouraged to responsibly share it with the relevant security agencies,” the statement concluded.
