SCAA warns of heavy rains approaching Somalia

Mogadishu (WDN) — Somalia is expected to experience heavy rains in various parts of the country in the coming days. The Somali Civil Aviation Authority (SCAA) will soon issue a warning regarding the weather conditions, while urging airlines, airports, and passengers to exercise extra caution.

SCAA has stated that the weather forecast indicates moderate to heavy rains expected in parts of western Somalia, the central regions, and areas in the eastern part of the country. The regions expected to receive moderate rains include Sool, Nugaal, Mudug, Shabelle, and Gedo, with the intensity of the rains varying across the areas.

The agency has warned that changes in weather conditions could affect flight safety, and it has advised airlines, airports, and passengers to closely monitor the weather forecasts and related flight advisories.

Passengers traveling during this period are therefore advised to regularly follow official weather updates and flight status, and to adhere to the information and guidelines provided by airlines and aviation authorities.

However, SCAA has indicated that the current forecast does not suggest that Somalia is facing a major storm or cyclone with widespread impact in the coming week.

The agency added that it will continuously monitor the weather conditions, using weather forecasts and daily reports, to provide the community and aviation stakeholders with information about any changes that could affect flights and air safety in Somalia.

“We urge all airlines, airports, and users of aviation services to closely monitor the changes in the weather forecasts,” SCAA stated in its warning.
