Former President of Somalia, Sharif Sheikh Ahmed, has been convinced to return to his home located near the airport in Mogadishu, after spending days in the northern part of the capital Mogadishu.

Reports indicate that mediation and negotiations led by traditional elders, diplomats from some Western embassies, and politicians from the federal government have resulted in convincing Sharif Sheikh Ahmed to return to the area he previously resided in.

The Federal Government of Somalia has reportedly insisted that opposition leaders, including Sharif Sheikh Ahmed and Hassan Ali Kheyre, leave the areas of tension and return to the secure zone of Xalane and its surroundings.

This step is seen as part of efforts to stabilize the security and political situation in Mogadishu, as talks and negotiations are still ongoing to prevent further clashes in the capital.
