Somalia Participates in a Welcoming Meeting Hosted by Putin for Cultural Forum Leaders

Saint Petersburg – The Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism of the Federal Government of Somalia, Mr. Abdifatah Qasim Mahmoud, participated last night in a welcoming meeting hosted by the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, for the leaders attending the 12th International Cultural Forum.

President Putin emphasized in his speech at the meeting the role of culture in bringing peoples together and continuing dialogue, even during times when political and economic relations are halted.

He also highlighted the importance of preserving the identity of diverse cultures, engaging youth, and exchanging knowledge and experiences. Minister Abdifatah Qasim Mahmoud thanked the President of Russia and his government for hosting the forum, the warm welcome, and their role in promoting culture and the arts.

The Minister noted that Somalia's participation in this forum is an important opportunity to showcase the richness of Somali heritage, exchange experiences, and build cooperation beneficial to cultural institutions, artists, and Somali creators.
